Missy Gannon planned to go swimming when she arrived at the class on Sunday morning.
James Proctor asked his caddy what the situation was in the biggest moment of the weekend and made some plans of his own.
Both implemented these plans.
From the first tee on Thursday morning, an invigorating conclusion was brewing at the 2024 Disc Golf Pro Tour – MVP Open x OTB, which took place in grand style on Sunday in Maple Hill.

Starting with Gannon in the morning and concluding with Proctor in the afternoon, both divisions were locked into the final hole of the four-round DGPT playoff tournament, the final Elite Series stop of the season.
Gannon entered the championship on Sunday three shots behind Kristin Tattar and had a breakthrough performance – grabbing four straight birdies on the turn and posting a 5-under scorecard through nine holes. Her birdie on the eighth day tied Tattar and sparked a back-and-forth affair until the end. Gannon tied it again with a 41-foot birdie on 17 for a two-stroke swing.
Tattar then faltered on the complex score to the island green on the 18th and Gannon delivered par for a two-stroke victory – her fourth Elite Series victory of 2024, along with her PDGA major title at the USWDGC – and the celebratory pond jump, the she made plans for Sunday morning.
Tattar took second place at Maple Hill for the fourth time in her career. Ohn Scoggins finished third.
Proctor was unsure of the situation as he entered the drop zone on the 18th.
The rest is indeed history, as Proctor would drain the challenging putt for the one-stroke victory, his second Elite Series win of 2024 and first on American soil.
His 8-under round, which included three hits from Circle 2 and a 10-for-10 mark from Circle 1, was enough to erase a two-shot deficit as the rest of the card failed to get going on Sunday. According to StatMando, Proctor is the seventh comeback winner in the final round at Maple Hill.
There were some highlights:
Paul McBeth managed to top the weekend's heated round with an 11-under win on Sunday, catapulting himself into second place on the chase card. He waited in the drop zone for the result of Proctor's putt.
Gavin Babcock, Gannon Buhr, Aaron Gossage and Ricky Wysocki shared third place.
Next up is the final PDGA MPO Major of the year, the USDGC, and the Throw Pink Women's Disc Golf Championship in two weeks in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
