There were some sizzling starts in the MPO field on Thursday, but none were as successful as Robinson.
The two-time PDGA World Champion started with a red-hot 10/10 and added two more birdies before making his only blemish of the day – a double bogey on hole 16, the third-toughest hole of the day. Robinson led in C1X putting (12/12), average putt length (23.7') and total putt distance (427') after three strokes from hole 2.
Robinson is one stroke ahead of Calvin Lonnquist, who also had 12 birdies. Lonnquist did his work off the tee and led by 8.00 strokes from tee to green.
Calving Heimburg sits alone in third place at 8 under par, with one of three bogey-free rounds on Thursday (Austin Turner T4 and James Proctor T10). Simon Lizotte made a birdie on the 18th hole in the shadowy after a long lightning break for MPO to complete the top card at 7 under par and is tied with six other players in fourth place.
