I don't understand Halloween.
I've never had that before.
Sure, for the first few years of my life, October 31st was a stunning date – full of fun and joy.
What's not to like?
- Pumpkin spice
- Affordable costumes
- Hidden razor blades (jokes)
And of course …
Mountains of sweets.
But when I was about eight, I started to feel like I was maybe a little too ancient for the festivities. And I was only eight and a bit. Here's what I remember: My last self-imposed year of trick-or-treating was when I was ten. At the time of writing this post, I'm 34.

You can imagine that if a spotty high school student shows up at my door with a girl on his arm, a car parked in front of the house, and a half-empty pillowcase, instead of a handful of candy, he's only going to find a roll of eyes and a quietly closed door.
I don't like Halloween.
That's fine.
Maybe you do, maybe you don't.
But do you know who loves it?
Disc golf.
More specifically: disc manufacturers.
Every October, without fail, Innova selects a select few molds to get the “jack-o-lantern” treatment. People are losing their minds. And they're paying more for them than they should.
Discraft can't lend a hand but get in on the action, either. Every year when the season of ghosts and ghouls arrives, the Wixom-based brand releases a batch of horror SuperColor buzzzes that deserve the “adult supervision required” label. Courtesy of longtime plastic artist Brian Allen, you'll find blood, hatchets, cursed dolls, creepy clowns, scantily clad damsels in distress…
And whatever that thing is:

Why do you have to do this to Woody?
Eat your hearts, you perverts.
Need one of these crazy flyers?
NO.
Your pocket won't be any better off for it. However, assuming you can resist the temptation to buy one (or five), you're far less likely to end up wearing a costume to a full-blown PDGA-sanctioned event in October. And yes, that actually happened in real life…

AWAY too much holiday spirit, Joseph.
Don't make the same mistake.
