Handley entered Championship Sunday of the final DGPT+ event of the season with a one-stroke lead and produced one of the hottest rounds of the day to take the win by three strokes, her third Elite Series victory of the season.
Buhr, on the other hand, had a bigger lead heading into the final lap of the Kensington MetroPark luge track, but his five-stroke lead shrank to just a single stroke heading into the home stretch. He held on, securing his sixth overall victory of 2024, including all four DGPT+ events, an Elite Series win and a PDGA Major title at the European Open.
Both were excellent off the tee in all four rounds. Handley led the field in OB rate with just four strokes and fairway hits (75%), along with six hits from Circle 2, resulting in a 4.79-point winning mark in putting. Buhr led in scramble rate (88%), C2 in regulation (74%) and strokes gained tee to green (24.70).
Handley played cleanly in the final round, managing just one bogey in her final, finishing 7 under par with a score of 1011. Hailey King matched that score, jumping two places into sole second place. Kristin Tattar completed the podium with a total score of 20 under par, six strokes behind Handley.
Buhr started slowly and saw his lead erode under attacks from Ricky Wysocki and Isaac Robinson, but held on down the home stretch. His standout week came on the 15th hole, when his errant tee shot hit the bulky abrasive but he escaped with a par. Wysocki got to within one shot on the 16th hole with a birdie putt on the edge of the circle, but Buhr made a birdie on the 17th hole and stuck with his risky roller shot on the challenging 18th tee to seal the win.
Robinson and Wysocki finished second with a combined score of 30 under par, two strokes behind Buhr.
