Weather this weekend
The weather for MVPS Open in Austin is hot and mostly placid – perfect for a weekend with discgolf. The highs rise in the mid -1980s in the course of the weekend, and in contrast to Waco, the winds should remain much easier, which makes the conditions a little more predictable for the players. The only thing you have to watch is a frigid front that moves on Sunday, which could get a chance to take a shower or thunderstorm to complete the event.
Open in Austin: FPO LookaHead
- FPO1 Feature Card: Ohn Scoggins, Catrina Allen, Holyn Handley and Silva Saarinen
- FPO2 Feature Card: Krissie Fountain, Kristin Featherlight, Sarah Hokom & Rebecca Cox
Here is a look at the top storylines this weekend:
1️⃣ Can Ihn -Scoggins repeat their dominance in Austin?
The reigning champion Ohn Scoggins achieved a historical performance in Austin last year and shook records with back-to-back-career-best rounds (1055 in round 2 and 1042 in round 3). With 11 beats-like victory role in every DGPT/Major in 2024. A repeated runaway win this weekend could consolidate as a candidate for the early 2025 player of the year.
2️⃣ Kristin Lätt eye solution and another victory in Texas
Kristin Lätt begins in 2025 Sturdy with a win at Waco – her 25th Major/Elite Series Victory. It is also one of the most successful FPO players Texas in the past (3 DGPT/M victory). However, Austin was bitterly sweet: a second -placed in 2024, but a difficult 10th at etc. in the Sprinkle Valley last year. If Kristin chooses in both courses in her game, she could get her second victory in the adolescent season and keep her top 10 series (now at 59) alive!
3️⃣ Pressure in Texas Size for the TourStshakeup
With Ella Hansen, Holyn Handley and Eveliina Salonen in the top 5 of the DGPT classification, the Austin -stop is critical. Ella and Holyn are trying to recover from disappointing 2024 surfaces in Austin (19th and 16th). Salons with four 2024 victories have not yet found this event. A solid finish could drive one of them to the top position of the season – or see others like Scoggins and Lätt Surge. With the 2025 DGPT point structure revisedThe middle pack surfaces now carry weight and carry out more pressure on the entire board.
Open in Austin: MPO LookaHead
- MPO1 Feature Card: Adam Hammes, Simon Lizott, Niklas Anttila and Mason Ford
- MPO2 Feature Card: Ricky Wysocki, Eagle McMahon, Kyle Klein and Evan Smith
Here is a look at the top storylines this weekend:
1️⃣ Adam Hammes rides Hoch-Kann going in a row?
Adam Hammes is fresh from his statement victory at Waco, and goes to Austin on the DGPT World classification For the first time in his career. The energetic is real – it has arched in the overall ranking from 9th to 1st and exceeded names like Simon Lizotte and Anthony Barela.
The story, however, shows that the Open in Austin was not the strongest stop from Hammes – the average of ~ 16th place through two starts. With the aim of the leader on the back and a DGPT+ title in the line, all eyes are directed to Hammes to see whether he can officially cement himself as the leaders in 2025.
2️⃣ The return of the Texas king – can Wysocki revive his Lone Star Dominance?
Nobody said Texas like Ricky Wysocki. With four wins of the Major/Elite series in Lone Star State, Wysocki has more hardware in Texas than any other player on tour. However, his 2025 season was a roller coaster 38. In Waco, 4th at the Supreme Flight Open, and second at last year's tour championship. Can “Sockibomb” find his groove back on Texas soil and remind the field of why he's the king here?
3️⃣ Barela and McBeth – the chase for the podium is stuck
Both Anthony Barela and Paul Mcbeth sit in the top 5 of the current rating, but nobody in Austin cost the victory. Barela, with four DGPT victories last year, seems to continue his breakout run, especially after a robust fourth place in Waco.
The entire campaign begins on Thursday, March 20! On the Discgolf network and after the pro-pro report from fangs of Jomezpro The whole weekend.
