Here's a look at this weekend's major storylines:
1️⃣ Missy Gannon returns as DGPT points winner
Missy Gannon, who just won her first DGPT points title, returns to Rock Hill where she won the first Throw Pink title of 2021. Gannon had an outstanding season with five wins in the Elite Series and just passed the $300,000 milestone in her career. As one of the most consistent performers this year, Gannon is looking to add another huge win to her resume.
2️⃣ Kristin Tattar's search for the Throw Pink title
Kristin Tattar was the Throw Pink runner-up two years in a row and lost to Holyn Handley in a playoff last year. With six major and elite series wins in 2024 – more than any other player – Tattar is on the verge of a breakthrough. After another close encounter at the MVP Open, where she took her fourth straight runner-up finish in the event, she will be hungry for redemption.
3️⃣ Holyn Handley defends her title
Holyn Handley, the 2023 Throw Pink champion, has been one of the most consistent players on the tour with 10 podium finishes and 19 top-10 finishes in 2024. Her ability to deliver in high-pressure moments, like last year's playoff win over Tattar, makes her a solemn threat to repeat. Handley's 999-best performance at Throw Pink in 2023 was the springboard to an impressive season, including three Elite Series victories.
4️⃣ A look into the future?
Iida Lehtomäki isn’t your average 15-year-old – she’s a disc golf prodigy! After finding success in the Finnish amateur leagues, she travels to the United States to compete in the Throw Pink Women's Disc Golf Championship. Find out all about their epic rise from Frisbeegolfmedia! 👇

MPO LOOKAHEAD
- MPO1 Feature Card: Isaac Robinson, Kyle Klein, Chris Dickerson and Väinö Mäkelä
- MPO2 feature card: James Proctor, Calvin Heimburg, Niklas Anttila and Jake Monn
Here's a look at this weekend's major storylines:
1️⃣ A fresh major champion on the horizon?
The USDGC has a long history of crowning first-time major champions, with four of the last five winners at the event winning their first MPO major. With an impressive 11 players throughout history claiming their first major victory at Winthrop, all eyes are on whether another fresh major winner will emerge in 2024. Could rising stars like Niklas Anttila or Anthony Barela make a breakthrough this year?
2️⃣ Gannon Buhr strives for historical milestones
Gannon Buhr, the 2022 USDGC champion, is looking to join the elite club of multiple winners. With seven Major and Elite Series wins this season, he is third on the all-time wins list in a season, behind legends like Paul McBeth. His 11 podiums this year are just one step shy of the all-time record and make him another dominant force. Buhr will look to rebound from his 27th-place finish at the USDGC last year and cement his place in disc golf history.
3️⃣ Ricky Wysocki's long quest for a USDGC title
Despite finishing in the top 20 in his last 30 major appearances, Ricky Wysocki hasn't won a major since 2017. He has reached the USDGC podium six times, making him the second-most finisher of all time, but victory has always eluded him at Winthrop, the major in which he has competed most often without a win. Can Wysocki, now a twelve-time USDGC competitor, finally secure the elusive title and break his winning streak?
4️⃣ Kyle Klein defends his 2023 USDGC title
Kyle Klein stunned the field last year, claiming his first major title at USDGC with a 1056 performance. Having finished in the top 10 in his last four USDGC appearances, his consistency at Winthrop makes him a formidable force in defending his title. Can Klein join the ranks of back-to-back USDGC champions like Paul McBeth and Ken Climo? The stage is set for an stimulating battle.
